Rivertrace has launched its new Smart Visco sensor, designed to measure the viscosity and temperature of fuel oil before injection into the main engines of large ships, with the data reported via analogue and digital outputs.
The sensor measures all grades of HFO using ultrasonic guided wave technology, with the high frequency and speed of ultrasound eliminating any potential impact of ambient vibration and flow speed on the measurements.
The monitor incorporates an LCD display that visually indicates all parameters, with the viscosity and temperature data also retrievable using RS485 or a USB stick.
The sensor can be integrated with Rivertrace’s Connected service to collect and share the data with operational staff to monitor and analyse trends in fuel performance at both a vessel and fleet level.
