The CT425 series of XtremeSense® TMR products provide high-precision isolated current sensing and common-mode field rejection at 1 MHz bandwidth

Santa Clara, California, October 26, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) - Crocus Technology Inc., a leading supplier of disruptive tunnel magnetoresistive XtremeSense® sensors, today announced the launch of CT425, CT426, CT427, and CT428 isolated current sensors. It has a total error of <1% over the entire operating temperature range without sacrificing accuracy or bandwidth. High-speed operation and precise output enable customers to optimize system design to achieve smaller size and higher efficiency.

The response time of CT42x is less than 300 ns, which greatly simplifies solutions in electric vehicle charging applications that use GaN (gallium nitride) or SiC (silicon carbide) transistors to increase power density. Similarly, the CT42x offers improvements in performance and size compared to classic isolated current sensing solutions that use shunt resistors, amplifiers, and digital isolators to detect voltage and convert that signal into current measurements. CT42x directly senses the current flowing through the package to avoid conversion errors and provide faster and more accurate measurements. With an industry-leading response time of 300 ns, high-power architectures such as CCM Totem Pole PFC can provide solutions with higher power density. The fast switching frequency of wide band gap (WBG) power devices requires current sensors to be able to detect fast transients to prevent potential cascading failures. Compared with existing solutions, integration in the space-saving SOIC-8 package can also reduce the total PCB footprint by up to 8 times.

CT42x has strong built-in common-mode field immunity, so that the device can suppress more than 99% of external stray magnetic fields without external shielding, while maintaining a total accuracy of <1%. Crocus' proprietary TMR technology inherently provides a very high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), allowing high-resolution measurements required for precision control or monitoring applications.

Zack Deiri, President and CEO of Crocus Technology, said: "The expansion of this product series brings more choices to our customers, allowing them to experience the high-precision performance of our XtremeSense TMR products in more demanding applications." In the past, our customers would choose products that provide them with good performance on one parameter in the temperature range, and then they would adjust their design to compensate for other parameters. They found that using Crocus products can achieve high accuracy and high bandwidth, which is They provide comprehensive high-performance solutions."
