American Auto Shield provides support for customers on and off the journey, aiming to provide financially secure services, reliable products, and internal support and advice based on research, industry knowledge and expertise. Underwriting and claims service providers provide plans with complete insurance and financial security.
American Auto Shield offers many extended coverage plans, all of which include roadside assistance. The company uses internal management (including claims adjusters) and ASE-certified technical staff. Customer service is fast and reliable. Compared with some competitors, financial security programs provide better age and mileage requirements.
The company provides third-party management and extended coverage for automobiles, motorcycles, ATVs and off-road vehicles. All service contracts include roadside assistance and can be transferred or cancelled within 30 days. You can purchase a vehicle service contract at any time during the entire life cycle of the vehicle.
American Auto Shield provides extended coverage that can increase the value of your vehicle and help you maintain coverage after the manufacturer’s warranty expires.
The Diamond plan focuses on parts and components, while the Platinum and Deluxe plans focus on component coverage. Platinum provides slightly more services than Deluxe. PT Gold, PT Silver and powertrain programs all focus on powertrain, with PT Gold providing the largest coverage (including fuel system). The coverage provided by the powertrain program is slightly smaller, but the maximum mileage is higher.
The benefits of all of the above programs include roadside assistance, car rental services, and trip interruption compensation (if you are more than 100 miles away from home and are stuck in a maintenance facility overnight due to an authorized mechanical failure or breakdown).
Luxury electronics (voice activation system, integrated radio, etc.), emissions (intake air temperature sensor and oxygen sensor), and market labor rates (up to $100) can be added.
American Auto Shield offers two motorcycle plans: the component-centric platinum plan or the powertrain basic plan. Both offer unlimited mileage plans for 2 to 4 years, roadside assistance, vehicle rental and the potential for travel interruption compensation, as well as optional insurance for luxury electronics (walkie-talkies and CB radios, cruise control systems, etc.). The Platinum plan provides more coverage than the powertrain, including electrical, steering, suspension, fuel delivery, instrumentation, and more.

Each provider received a weighted score in five categories and a total score of 10.0.
