Ifm Electronics' new PL54 series of miniature pressure sensors can be installed in a position that is completely flush with the inner surface of the container or pipe in which they are installed. This makes them ideal for use with adhesives, media containing suspended solids, and other viscous media, which tend to "clog" dead spaces created by non-flush mounted sensors.

The new sensor provides a standard 4 to 20 mA analog output, has an embedded diaphragm with G1/4 thread, and is directly welded to the sensor body. This arrangement provides high accuracy in a compact housing, which has a planar size of only 19 mm. These sensors have high vibration and shock resistance, made of corrosion-resistant high-grade stainless steel, suitable for mobile applications and other harsh environments.
Despite the extremely competitive price, the PL54 pressure sensor still offers high measurement accuracy of ±0.5% or higher, and excellent repeatability of ±0.05% or higher. They are available in five versions, covering the measurement range from 0 to 60 bar to 0 to 400 bar. All types can be used for media in the temperature range of -40 to 90 ºC, and all have standard M12 connectors.
